Nail deformities treatment
Although nail deformities are incredibly common, many of our patients find them very embarrassing and say it affects their confidence, especially during sandal weather. If you have nail deformities, it can encroach upon your life, limiting what you do because you don’t want to show your feet.
We can help treat your nail deformities
Nail deformities can have a number of causes and come in all shapes and sizes. Your nail may be too thick, discoloured, or be affected by a fungal issue which causes the nail to look pitted and deformed. All of these issues are relatively minor but can have a big impact on how you feel.
Examples of common nail deformities include:
Treatment is dependent on the cause, which will be identified by one of our team. For example, if the discolouration is caused by a fungal infection, our Chiropody team may offer photodynamic light therapy or topical treatment to kill the fungus. Nail surgery may be required for more serious or recurring cases.
Generally, the noticeable signs of the development of nail issues include a thickened or discoloured nail, debris beneath the nail. Nail deformities range from affecting just a section of one nail to the entire nails on multiple toes.
The colour of the nail discolouration will indicate to our Chiropody team of the exact cause. For example, a yellow or brown nail indicates a fungal infection.
It is important to see a chiropodist so that problems such as verruca’s, corns and ingrown toenails can be diagnosed and treated effectively and accurately. Mis-diagnosis is a common problem seen daily in our clinics, so we strive to rectify foot-related problems in a professional and efficient manner.
You may have seen a GP for your issues but can’t seem to fix your nails. Our chiropody team can help treat these issues permanently.
