Verrucas

Are Veruccas causing you discomfort?

Verrucas, also known as plantar warts, are a type of wart which is found on the sole of the foot. It’s usually flat, because of the weight of your body, and can sometimes grow over 1cm in diameter. Verrucas are caused by the HPV virus and as such are highly contagious.

If you have verrucas, it’s important to keep it covered when going barefoot or using public facilities. However, many people are simply not fastidious enough or don’t know they have verrucas in the first place, which is why they spread so easily.

Verruca Treatment

Verrucas can be painful if left untreated and many of our clients have tried various over-the-counter acids and ointments to try to rid themselves of verrucas, only to find they’re not properly eradicated and come back after a while.
A verruca is a wart caused by a viral infection, appearing on the base of the foot. It caused caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which usually infects your foot when you come into contact with another infected individual or from a moist warm environment which harbours the virus, such as swimming pools.
We can offer tailored therapy depending on the severity of the viral infection. It may involve, sharp debridement of the verruca surface, salicylic acid treatment, needling and laser treatment.
Most common symptoms include:

Area of roughened skin
Pain when pressure applied to the side of the verruca
Tiny dots may appear
Though when it first develops it may not seem to be an issue, if left untreated, the viral infection will spread and eventually become painful.
